Actigraphy & accelerometer data analysis
Actigraphy looks simple until the wear-time rules, non-wear detection, and valid-day definitions decide your sample size. We analyze actigraphy and raw-accelerometer data across clinical-grade and consumer devices, with the data-integrity decisions pre-specified and defensible.
The technology: research- and consumer-grade tri-axial accelerometers (Ametris (formerly Actigraph), activPAL, Axivity, and wrist wearables) recording raw or epoch-level acceleration.
Endpoints
Actigraphy endpoints we analyze
| Family | Measures |
|---|---|
| Physical activity | MVPA (moderate-to-vigorous physical activity), daily step count, activity counts, energy expenditure, physical activity level (PAL) |
| Sedentary behavior | sedentary time, prolonged-bout analysis |
| Sleep | sleep duration, efficiency, and timing from actigraphy |
| Data integrity | wear-time, valid-day rules, non-wear detection, compliance and data yield |
The decisions that matter
Wear-time, valid days, and reliability
- Non-wear detection and wear-time computation from raw or epoch data
- Valid-day and minimum-days rules — how many days you actually need for a reliable estimate
- Compliance and data-yield reporting (the figure that decides whether the endpoint is powered)
- Reliability (ICC, SEM, MDC) and MCID framing per metric
- Devices: Ametris (formerly Actigraph), activPAL, Axivity, plus consumer wearables (Garmin, Fitbit, Apple Watch, Oura, WHOOP)
Pairs with SAP development and Garmin / Fitrockr analysis.
